H/t Rebecca Bollwitt’s June 11, 2024 posting on Miss604.com for news about this relatively new exhibition at Science World. Here’s more from a May 6, 2024 Science World news release (PDF),
Are you ready to explore our changing planet through a different lens, immerse yourself in incredible ecosystems, and learn how the smallest of actions can have a big impact on
our natural world? Visit Earth Matters: Rethink the Future coming to Science World on May 31, 2024. Created by the renowned Scitech in Perth, Australia and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, Earth Matters features thought-provoking and fully interactive exhibits, covering topical themes such as biodiversity, rising global temperatures, and carbon emissions across an informative journey that will inspire visitors to find new answers to big questions.“Earth Matters presents an opportunity for visitors of all ages to discover the interconnectedness of global ecosystems and the impact of climate change on our shared planet. Even the smallest steps can catalyze positive change, from everyday habits to grassroots innovations, our guests will be inspired to realize their potential in shaping a more sustainable future,” said Brian Anderson, Director of Performance and Fun Times [Note: I hate cutesy job titles] at Science World and co-curator of the exhibition.
The Exhibition Experience
In nature, everything is connected—air, land, water. As you explore Earth Matters, look out for those connections along the way. Solve complex challenges and push your own ideas to new heights. Then, rethink a more sustainable future—starting in your own backyard.
See the inner workings of a tree, listen and learn about endangered species, and experience large-scale visualizations of changes taking place in our natural world. Learn more about the big issues, like biodiversity, rising global temperatures, and how to manage carbon emissions.
An interactive 3D projection map of a coral reef visually demonstrates changes in its ecosystem in response to visitors’ everyday decisions. In other exhibits, a mechanical pump demonstrates how much water is used in the production of a single chocolate bar and other popular lifestyle consumables.
Tom Zaller, CEO of Imagine Exhibitions shared, “Imagine Exhibitions is proud to partner with Scitech to bring Earth Matters to Science World. Earth Matters is a great way for families to spark their creativity and find STEM-based [science, technology, engineering, and mathematics] solutions for real-world challenges, making the world a better place in the process.”
Earth Matters is open daily to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 31, 2024 until January 9, 2025. Tickets are available to purchase at scienceworld.ca or at the dome

Science World’s Earth Matters: Rethink the Future exhibition webpage doesn’t offer much information about the show although there’s an opportunity to buy tickets. After seeing the extras being offered for the Canada Science and Technology Museum’s “Oh Crap! Oh Merde!” exhibition (see my May 2, 2024 posting), this Science World nonoffering seems a bit disappointing.. Thankfully, Scitech the organization that created the show has provided extracurricular activities on its Earth Matters At Home webpage,
