This looks like it will be the final chance to air your views or engage in the public consultation being held by the US government on their National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI). From the news item on Nanowerk,
Starting November 1, public comment is invited for thirty days on the draft Strategic Plan for the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), which is posted at the NNI Strategy Portal. The comments period ends on November 30, 2010.
The NNI Strategic Plan is the framework that underpins the nanotechnology work of 25 NNI member agencies. It aims to ensure that advances in nanotechnology R&D and their applications to agency missions and the broader national interest continue unabated in this still-young area of research and development. Its purpose is to facilitate achievement of the NNI vision by laying out guidance for agency leaders, program managers, and the research community regarding planning and implementation of nanotechnology R&D investments and activities.
The NNI has held previous public engagement exercises such as a workshop in July (mentioned in my July 9, 2010 posting). Dietram Scheufele at the nanopublic blog has posted the presentation he made at the July workshop online (mentioned in my Oct. 13, 2010 posting).
For a little more about this latest public consultation and I believe final round of this consultation (from the news item on Information Week Government),
People can comment on the National Nanotechnology Initiative’s (NNI’s) draft Strategic Plan on the NNI Strategy Portal, according to a White House blog post by Travis Earles, assistant director for nanotechnology in the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Alternatively, people can email comments to nnistrategy@ostp.gov. The NNI is asking people to submit comments of one page or less, or 4,000 characters.
You can go directly the NNI’s portal to contribute in one of two ways mentioned in the previous news item.
